About the Role

PPM Recruitment is working with an established and growing specialist contractor within the drylining and interiors sector to recruit an experienced Contracts Manager to join its team in Northampton.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Contracts Manager with a background in drylining, plastering, partitioning, suspended ceilings and interior fit-out to join a successful business with a strong pipeline of work.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple projects from pre-construction through to completion, overseeing site teams, subcontractors, programmes, budgets, quality and health and safety to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

The contractor delivers projects across the residential, extra-care, student accommodation and commercial sectors, offering a varied workload and the opportunity to play a key role in the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple drylining and interior projects from initial planning through to practical completion and handover.
  • Oversee day-to-day contract delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
  • Coordinate site managers, supervisors, subcontractors and direct labour across multiple projects.
  • Develop, monitor and manage project programmes, ensuring key milestones and deadlines are achieved.
  • Manage project budgets, costs, resources and commercial performance in conjunction with the commercial team.
  • Monitor project progress and identify potential delays, risks and opportunities, implementing corrective action where required.
  • Oversee the procurement and coordination of materials, labour, plant and subcontract packages.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, main contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams.
  • Attend client meetings, site progress meetings and contract reviews.
  • Ensure all works comply with current health and safety legislation, company policies and site-specific requirements.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Contracts Manager within the construction industry.
  • Strong background in drylining and interiors, ideally including partitioning, plastering, suspended ceilings and associated finishing packages.
  • Experience managing multiple construction projects simultaneously.
  • Previous experience working across residential, extra-care, student accommodation or commercial projects would be advantageous.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver projects to demanding deadlines.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites as required.
  • Relevant construction qualifications are desirable, although substantial industry experience will also be considered.

What's on Offer?

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
  • Company car or car allowance.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Permanent position with an established specialist drylining and interiors contractor.
  • Opportunity to manage a varied portfolio of projects across residential, extra-care, student accommodation and commercial sectors.
  • Long-term career development and progression opportunities.
  • Supportive working environment with an experienced team.
