About the Company

An established and growing construction and development business specialising in the delivery of high-quality, purpose-built healthcare facilities is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor.

With a strong track record in healthcare development and a growing portfolio of nationwide projects, the business offers an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to join its expanding team.

Working from the Market Deeping office, with regular travel to sites nationwide, you will play a key role in managing procurement, cost control and commercial performance across projects from conception through to completion.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for overseeing all commercial and cost management activities across a range of large-scale construction developments.

You will work closely with clients, contractors, Contracts Managers and site teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of quantity surveying services across assigned projects.
  • Lead tendering, procurement and subcontractor appointment processes.
  • Undertake full pre- and post-contract commercial duties.
  • Prepare monthly CVRs, financial reports and management accounts.
  • Monitor project costs, cash flow, risks and commercial opportunities.
  • Prepare detailed costed risk registers and mitigation strategies.
  • Advise on contract documentation and procurement strategies.
  • Manage variations, valuations, final accounts and commercial disputes.
  • Attend and chair meetings with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Monitor project milestones and deliverables alongside Contracts Managers.
  • Work closely with site teams to identify and resolve commercial and project-related issues.
  • Prepare and present financial and commercial reports to clients and senior management.
  • Support estimating and pre-construction activities where required.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior members of the commercial team.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management role.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Experience carrying out full pre- and post-contract duties.
  • Proven experience working on large-scale construction projects from conception through to completion.
  • Strong analytical and commercial approach to managing costs, risks and opportunities.
  • Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and reporting abilities.
  • Healthcare or complex construction experience would be advantageous.
