PPM Recruitment are currently recruiting for an Assistant Contract Manager to support the effective management and development of a portfolio of grounds maintenance contracts.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Grounds Maintenance Supervisor/Manager looking to take the next step in their career within a contract management environment.
Working closely with the Contract Manager, you will help ensure contracts are delivered to a high standard, within agreed financial targets and in line with client expectations.
You will play an important role in managing operational teams, maintaining strong client relationships and supporting the development of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Contract Manager with the day-to-day management of client contracts.
Monitor work standards, service delivery and financial performance.
Manage and motivate operational teams, ensuring high standards of attendance, productivity and quality.
Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, staff and external agencies.
Attend client meetings and deal effectively with any issues or concerns.
Identify opportunities for additional services and improvements.
Assist with job pricing and quotations.
Support recruitment, staff development, training and performance management.
Provide on-the-job coaching and ensure appropriate training is completed.
Complete relevant administration, reporting and record keeping accurately.
Support the implementation of service changes and manage their operational and financial impact.
Ensure all Health & Safety policies and procedures are followed.
Maintain a visible presence across your area of responsibility.
Carry out other duties as required by the Contract Manager.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Minimum 4 years' experience within corporate and/or local authority grounds maintenance.
At least 1 year's experience supervising or managing people.
Strong knowledge of grounds maintenance operations and equipment.
Practical experience using ride-on mowers, hedge trimmers, strimmers, scarifiers and tractors.
Knowledge of chemical application and safe working practices.
Excellent plant and pest knowledge.
Good leadership and communication skills.
The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
Good computer and administrative skills.
A full, valid driving licence.
The ability to use a trailer would be advantageous.
Qualifications:
Relevant qualifications would be desirable, such as:
Horticulture or Landscape Management qualification.
City & Guilds/NVQ Amenity Horticulture.
HND in Landscape Management or Amenity Horticulture.
Management qualification.
IOSH, ROLO or another relevant Health & Safety qualification.
Additional Requirements:
Willingness to travel extensively throughout the region.
Strong commitment to Health & Safety.
Professional approach when dealing with clients, staff and members of the public.
Ability to work independently and as part of a wider management team.
Commitment to continuous professional development.
